Tom Selleck, ‘Blue Bloods’ set Friday pace; ‘Smallville’ finale soars

http://collider.com/wp-content/uploads/Tom_Selleck_Blue_Bloods-8.jpgClark Kent (Tom Welling) got a lift in the ratings as “Smallville” ended its 10-year run Friday night.
But Tom Selleck and “Blue Bloods” were still the biggest thing going for the night. The CBS drama averaged 11.4 million viewers for its first-season finale. CBS’ “CSI: NY” was second with 10.2 million for its season finale. And CBS’ “Flashpoint” was the No. 3 series on broadcast television with 7.5 million viewers.
CBS won the night by averaging 9.7 million viewers. The other broadcast networks lagged: NBC with 4.8 million, Disney-owned ABC with 4.4 million and Fox with 3.5 million.
But The CW was better than usual as “Smallville” exited with 3 million fans. It was the show’s most-watched episode since Oct. 15, and The CW’s best Friday since that day.
SPOLIER ALERT: Clark got his cape, stepped into the Superman role and saw Lex Luthor elected president in 2018. It was a rousing fadeout, especially when the John Williams music signaled that, yes, Superman had arrived.
