A tornado watch was in affect for Will County south to Kankakee until 10 a.m., and a hazardous weather outlook continues for the Chicago area.
Showers and thunderstorms developing from the southwest and moving northeast over the metro area could produce an isolated tornado, according to NBC Chicago's Andy Avalos.
Periods of showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue this morning then resurface this afternoon with possibly damaging wind, large hail, heavy rain and frequent lightning.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for the following counties: Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Cook, LaSalle, Kendall, Grundy, Will, Kankakee, Livingston, Iroquois and Ford.
The Chicago area will see a large spread of temperatures from the mid- to upper 50s along the lakefront to 65-70 inland and mid- to upper 70s in southern sections.
