Julian Beever Chalk Art: Extraordinary

Julian Beever Actress Michelle Trachtenberg (R) and Crest 3D White Brand rep John Maitrejean (C) meet event muralist Julian Beever and his daughter during the Crest 3D White Collection launch in Herald Square on April 6, 2010 in New York City.
English-born Beever is a world famous street artist best known for his chalk drawings. And by chalk art, we don't mean the type of stuff you'd see on the sidewalk outside your house as a child. No, we mean elaborate, extraordinary works of illusion.

If you haven't seen any of Beever's art, you can check out 44 of his drawings here. If you're more interested in how he creates his masterpieces, then here's what you need to know:

He first designs his images on paper, then goes to work on pavement using chalk. The 3D illusion he creates is the result of a projection technique known as anamorphosis. While he's famous for his chalk art, Beever has also painted a number of murals and collages.
