Ex-Brazilian football star Socrates hospitalized

Hospital officials say former Brazil captain Socrates is being treated for a stomach hemorrhage in an intensive care unit.
Sao Paulo's Albert Einstein Hospital says in a statement that Socrates was hospitalized Friday.
The statement says the hemorrhage was brought about by high blood pressure in the vein that carries blood from the digestive system to the liver.
The statement provided no further information.
The 57-year-old Socrates captained the national squad in the 1982 and 1986 Word Cups and played for Corinthians between 1978 and 1984.
He has also played for Flamengo and Fiorentina.
