The Westport Police Department is investigating the theft of two Louhan head sculptures which date back 900 to 1000 years. The Sculptures were from a private collection and were being stored at a location in Westport.
The Sculptures are carved from sand stone, originated from China and date back to the Tang Dynasty. Value of the sculptures is estimated at $800,000.00 each. These pieces are extremely unique and rare and are of the few examples known to exist in the world.
The dimensions of the sculptures are 15 inches in height by 10 inches in depth by 15 inches in length. They weigh between 55-70 pounds.
The theft is being investigated by the Westport Police Detective Bureau and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Westport Police Detective Bureau all information will be kept confidential.
