Heather Locklear and Jack Wagner no longer engaged

Heather Locklear and Jack Wagner, who announced their plans to marry in August, have reportedly called off their engagement.

According to People, Locklear’s rep confirmed that the engagement between the former “Melrose Place” stars is now off; the news came after Locklear was spotted at the premiere of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1” without her engagement ring on her finger. No reason for the split was given.

For those who keep track of pressing celebrity-related dates, it’s worth noting that the announcement of the Locklear/Wagner engagement came the same week that Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries wedding took place. Which was clearly not a good week for celebrity romance.

While their engagement only lasted a little longer than Kardashian’s marriage, their relationship — Locklear, 50, and Wagner, 52, have been dating for four years — lasted much, much longer.

Given their history, perhaps the former “Melrose” lovers can still work things out. If they don’t, I blame Billy Campbell. Because, really, Billy should always be blamed for everything.
